I found that I was tithing under compulsion. It has been preached in many Churches that we should tithe because the Old Testament said to. Abraham gave 10% to Melchisadeck, but when he did that there was no law on it. Abraham chose to do that out of a generous heart towards God because of God’s blessings to him.
I believe we should have a heart of generosity towards God, and give cheerfully whatever God puts on our heart to give. After all it is God who gave us the power to get wealth. So everything we have we should thank God for, then ask Him what He wants us to do with what He has given us.
As Christians we have been redeemed from the curse of the law, and now we live under grace. We are free to give. God may ask us to give more than we were, when we were giving 10%, or He may ask us to give less. But you will feel free when you free yourself from all curses and just be obedient to whatever God asks you to do.
God blesses those who are obedient to Him. Be willing and obedient as it says in Isaiah 1:19 and God will bless you.
“Give, and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap. ” Luke 6:38

Have you seen the movie “The Passion of The Christ”? It was an amazing movie. How could anyone watch that movie and not be moved by how much Jesus went through for us! It is Through Jesus that we can be free. Spiritually free. The Bible says in John 14:6, Jesus speaking, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.” Having a relationship with Jesus is the only way to get yourself right with God. You know why? God is the one who put that in place. In John 3:16, Jesus says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” Do you want to get right with God and know that you have eternal life? Then here is a prayer you can say with your mouth:
“Dear Jesus, I repent of my sins. I believe you died on the cross for me so God could see me as holy and righteous. I believe you rose again from the dead so that I could receive the free gift of eternal life. I ask you Jesus to come into my life and be my Lord and Saviour and friend. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. And I thank you that I am forgiven, I’m a child of God, I’m a new creation, I have been born again spiritually, and I am a living precious jewel. Amen”
God Loves you and wants the best for you.
